Dr. Tricia Burdo is an internationally recognized immunologist who has made seminal contributions to the role of chronic immune activation in HIV co-morbidities. The Burdo laboratory led key studies on the relationship between monocyte activation and myocardial pathology and neuroHIV in the non-human primate (NHP) SIV model. The laboratory also demonstrated SIV proviral excision by CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing in the NHP model. Dr. Burdo served on the HIV Co-morbidities and Clinical Studies (HCCS) study section (2015-2021) and Office of AIDS Research (OAR) Advisory Council (OARAC) (2016-2021) and recently as the OARAC member of the AIDS Research Advisory Committee (ARAC).
