Dr. Ilker K. Sariyer is an Associate Professor at Temple University LKSOM. Dr. Sariyer has over 17 years of experience with the pathogenesis of diseases associated with neurotropic viruses including HIV-1. He collaborates with a team of investigators to demonstrate the potential elimination of HIV from PWH by gene editing utilizing CRISPR technology. By using ex vivo models, he has determined the conditions for viral reactivation and established the assays for the validation and optimization of CRISPR/Cas constructs for targeting HIV and host immune genes. He is Co-Leader of the Mammalian Cell Culture Core of the Comprehensive NeuroAIDS Center (CNAC).
