Boston Children's Hospital and Harvard Medical School
Scientist, Division of Infectious Diseases
Professor of Pediatrics, Harvard Medical School

Dr. Hyeryun Choe is an established virologist with a long track record in the study of virus entry and virus-host interaction.  Examples of her contribution include the identification, in collaboration with the laboratory of Dr. Michael Farzan, of the coreceptors for HIV-1, the receptors for SARS-CoV-1 and New World hemorrhagic fever arenaviruses, and other essential host factors such as catepsins for SARS-CoV infection and PS receptors for flavivirus and filovirus infection. Using such expertise and an innovative approach, her team recently designed and developed an AAV vector with greatly enhanced muscle transduction efficiency.
