Brian Wigdahl, PhD

Dr. Brian Wigdahl is Professor and Chair of the Department of Microbiology and Immunology and Director of the Institute of Molecular Medicine and Infectious Diseases and the Institute’s Center for Molecular Virology and Translational Neuroscience at Drexel University COM. Dr. Wigdahl’s career spans more than 45 years working in the general research area of herpesviruses and retrovirology particularly in the area of basic and translational HIV research since the early years of the epidemic. He has been recognized at the national and international levels for his research, service, and administrative capabilities with the Pioneer in Neurovirology Award from the International Society for NeuroVirology and the Wybran Award from the Society for NeuroImmune Pharmacology.
